We say NO to red tape blocking voters from the ballot box.

Do not sign petitions from the “Committee to Protect Voters’ Rights” or “Americans for Citizens Voting - Michigan.”

These proposals would make it more difficult for eligible U.S. citizens to vote.

Don’t be fooled by their misleading names. State and federal law already prohibit non-citizens from voting. What these proposals would really do is tangle voters up in unnecessary red tape and make it more difficult for all of us to register to vote and to make our voices heard at the ballot box.

If you see these petitions – decline to sign! And remember: petition circulators can legally say anything to get you to sign. Always read the fine print.

In recent years, Michigan voters have overwhelmingly approved ballot measures that modernized our elections, improved access to the ballot box, and advanced our voting rights. We can’t let our progress get tangled up in a bunch of unnecessary red tape.

Every eligible voter should be able to make their voice heard in our elections, and Michigan has made great strides in improving access to the ballot. But not everyone is happy with those changes, and now our voting rights are under attack.

These anti-voter initiatives would add unnecessary red tape to our voting process. They could disenfranchise tens of thousands of eligible voters across the state and would make it more difficult for us all to make our voices heard at the ballot box.

We must all come together to defend our fundamental right to vote – for ourselves, for our communities, for our democracy.

Join the fight! Add your name and take a stand against these attacks on our right to vote.
